Do you really know what is in your toothpaste?

BLD029665We’ve all seen them – and we’ve all done it ourselves, once or twice. There are some people that just stand there, in a supermarket aisle, holding an item as close to their eyes as possible so that they can read the tiny writing . . . desperately trying to find out what the ingredients are, and whether or not they are dangerous. After all, there are so many additives, preservatives, colorings, and flavorings within so many foods that it is important to really know what you are eating. But the potential danger that you are putting your body in does not just stop at food and drink. If you think carefully about it, you will realise that you are actually putting another substance into your mouth every day, twice a day – and we bet that you have no clue at all what it is in it. That’s right: we’re talking about your toothpaste.

Even if you have bothered to look at the ingredient list for the toothpaste that you use every single day, so much of it is jibberish that it is difficult to know what the strange chemicals actually are. However, we have done all of that hard work for you, and we are sad to tell you that the vast majority of ingredients in store bought toothpastes are not very nice. Some are carcinogens, some are used in pesticides, and some even disrupt natural growth and development. Those are definitely not chemicals that you should be putting into your mouth and swallowing twice a day, and yet we do it blindly because we do not know any better.

But now you do! Take a stand, and wise up on the contents of your toothpaste. A little time looking at the actual ingredients will transform the way that you see brushing your teeth.
